Our Church Community

We are very proud to be in the parish of Brenzett.

We have very strong links with the church and the parish. The school has regular services at the church and has weekly collective workshops with the Team Rector (Rev'd Chris Hodgkins), Team Vicar (Father Jack) for Romney Marsh Benefice or the Lay Minister (Les Carter).

A Brief History of Brenzett Church

St Eanswith is one of the smallest churches on Romney Marsh. It is dedicated to a 7th century princess who founded a nunnery at Folkestone in 630. It is therefore possible that the church has its origins in the 7th century, although nothing remains of a Saxon building, the present church having been commenced in the late twelfth century.

The church was built on an artificial mound to raise it above winter flood levels. The chancel arch has Norman roll and chevron work in its lower half, dating to the 12th century.
