Term 2
What’s happening this term:
Literacy - In Literacy we will be starting the term by exploring the Great Fire of London, writing our own newspaper articles and diary entries inspired by Samuel Pepys. We will also be writing non-chronological reports about Guy Fawkes.
Maths - In Maths we will continue to build on our understanding of place value, addition and subtraction using a variety of represenations to problem solve and reason. Following this, we will be starting our geometry unit, looking at both 2D and 3D shapes, identifying and comparing their properties.
RE - The theme for RE this term is Incarnation and we will be exploring the overarching question, Why does Christmas metter to Christians?
Science - We will be starting our repeating unit: seasonal change. We will start the year looking at Autumn and will include observations of the weather, temperature and characteristics and then will repeat the study to compare the seasons Spring and Summer.
History - This term we will be looking at significant explorers through History. We will be comparing modes of trasport as well as the legacies of Christopher Columbus, Matthew Henson, Mary Kingsley and Dame Ellen Macarthur.
Art - This term we will be looking at mosaic and collage. Our unit will include a local study of the Marsh Mosaics as well as creating our own collages using recycled maps and creating a class gallery repeated print designs.
PSHE - In PSHE we will be exploring health and wellbeing by learning about growth mindset, our feelings and how we can regulate ourselves when we have overwhelming feelings. In addition, we will be looking at healthy habits and changes to our lifestyles that can make us healthier and happier.
Music - We will be exploring and learning our Nativity songs.
