ADHD
ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a persistent neurodevelopmental condition characterised by inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity, leading to difficulties with focus, restless energy, and acting without thinking. Symptoms, which usually appear in childhood, can significantly interfere with daily functioning, relationships, and work or school performance.
What is ADHD?
- ADHD is a developmental disorder where the brain works differently, making it hard to manage certain behaviours and focus on tasks.
- It's characterised by a consistent pattern of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity that affects daily life and development.
Key Symptoms
- Hyperactivity: Restlessness, constant movement, difficulty sitting still, and fidgeting.
- Impulsivity: Interrupting others, acting without thinking, and having difficulty with self-control.
- Inattention: Difficulty concentrating, being easily distracted, forgetting tasks, and making careless mistakes.
Types of ADHD

Inattentive: Primarily displays symptoms of difficulty paying attention, planning, and completing tasks.

Hyperactive-Impulsive: Dominant symptoms include being constantly active, fidgeting, and acting without thinking.
- Combined: Shows a mix of both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity symptoms.
