Our focus will be on what did the ancient Egyptians believe?
By the end of the unit, pupils who are secure will be:
- Identify the ancient civilisations and key periods in Ancient Egypt.
- Describe the physical features of Egypt.
- Explain the Egyptian creation story.
- Identify the characteristics of important gods or goddesses.
- Explain why the pyramids were built.
- Identify the stages and challenges of building a pyramid.
- Explain the links between ancient Egyptian beliefs and mummification.
- Name sources that can be used to find out about ancient Egyptian beliefs.
- Explain some Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.
Maths
This term, we will be looking Length, Perimeter and Area -
English
Our focus text will be - The Ancient Egypt Sleepover
The book’s action takes place in the Great Court, the Ancient Egypt sculpture gallery and the mummy galleries of the British Museum
This book will be used to inspire the children's research into Egypt and provide different opportunities for writing throughout the term.
Further books will be used to support literacy throughout the term.
Reading
As a class, we really enjoy reading, and we read for at least 20 minutes a day. The reading record will be checked every day and this will contribute to your child achieving their Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificates for 10 consecutive days of reading.
Forest School
Our class will participate on a Wednesday afternoon with Mrs Crosby. Please ensure that your child has their boots and kit every week. Please speak to us if you need guidance on what is required.
PE
Friday afternoon and will be with our specialist sports instructors who will use their extensive coaching knowledge to support a variety of different sports.
Homework
The class teacher will inform the parents of the homework via Seesaw
Spellings will be set via Spelling Frame. Children have one week to complete the test on the given words.
