School Council
What is the School Council?
A new school council is elected each academic year, with every class from Reception to Y6 nominating representatives. This creates a central group that speaks on behalf of the whole school and makes decisions about school life. We value the opinions of our pupils and the School Council gives children a forum to share these opinions with the Headteacher and other members of staff, allowing for change and to make their school experience even better.

Welcome -
- TTRS day – we could have a pre-event happening during the holidays, maybe an optional competition. Children loved the school disco – especially the sweets and getting to wear their own clothes. They would like more of these.
- Clubs – really enjoying drawing club but children would like an opportunity to use chromebooks for one lunchtime. Would also like a craft club. Multi-sports is paid but they would like a free sports club at lunchtime (maybe this could be a Year 5/6 club).
Brenzett Feast – budget-friendly, every dish has to include a vegetable and in KS2 has to have a vegetarian and meat version.
- Oak Class food: Chinese egg fried rice
- Willow Class: Potato salad/vegetable hash
- Cherry Class: Cheesy pasta
- Acorn Class: Fruit kebab
School trip feedback -
- Brockhill Cherry and Acorns: the children really liked to visit the park but would’ve preferred to have been there for the whole day as they didn’t really enjoy coming back to learning. Though that it fit with learning about microhabitats.
- Hastings Aquarium Oak: Really enjoyed the information guide and found out a lot about the sharks. It supported topic about oceans thinking about the habitats and dangers.
- Willow Class are really excited about their trip to London.
Reading -
- WBD: Golden ticket, dress up, book quizzes (kahoot) and mystery book games.
- WBW: cosy reading time, loved the idea of a lunchtime role play café, hot chocolate and read but said that inviting parents can be quite unfair and not very inclusive. Interview a parent afternoon for reading. Making our own books. Poetry slam. Themed maths lesson.
- Library: We want it to be cosy, we want some more seating and the children really like the idea of audio books.
- Reader’s Theatre: We would like the whole school to watch our reader’s theatre, there could be a judgement at the end and in Oak class they really like that their reading actually has an impact.
AOW –
- Rough play – we need a few more kind hand reminders.
- Sensory space outside as well as inside/calm day space.
