What’s happening this term:

English - In Literacy we will be reading 'The Night Pirates' and will be researching famous pirates, writing letters and creating character descriptions. We will then be reading 'What the ladybird heard at the seaside' and we will be writing our own narratives, setting descriptions and creating 'Wanted' posters. Our SPAG focus will be suffixes, progressive tense and apostrophes for contractions.

Maths - The focus this term will be time, measurement (weight, capacity, temperature) and geometry.

Science - The topic for Science is ' Animals, including humans'. We will be learn that living and non-living things can be grouped in a variety of ways. Humans move through different stages of growth and development and living things have characteristics and requirements for life, growth and health.

History - Our theme is ' How did we learn to fly?' We will be identifying important events surrounding the history of flight, explaining how a significant event has changed the lives of others and we will be asking questions about people and events in the past.

RE - The theme for RE this term is Islam, our big question is 'Who is a Muslim and what do they believe?' We will be exploring the Prophet Mohammed and why he is important to Muslims and learning about special places.

Art -  In this unit pupils will be introduced to paper-based 3D art forms, focusing on techniques like rolling paper tubes, shaping paper strips, and constructing imaginative sculptures. Children will  develop skills in creating 3D structures and applying painting skills in three-dimensional art, enhancing their understanding of form and construction.

Music - We will be combining all the musical concepts learned throughout the year for an underwater-themed performance incorporating instrumental, vocal and body sounds
